Seeing this slideshow of WGBY’s 2019 Summer of Fun & Learning with snapshots of children and interns brings a smile to my face as I hope it does to yours.
While we plan our upcoming education programs, these photos are a reminder to reflect on what we learned over the summer and determine how we can next make the strongest impact in our community, especially underserved audiences in our region. In a July post here, you met WGBY summer interns and learned about their engagement with Pre-K children in Head Start and YMCA classrooms. By summer’s end, they had also taken a field trip to WGBH in Boston and been integral to WGBY/CPTV’s Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day at the CT. Trolley Museum. Thanks to our packed summer, interns made many new friends, big and small, who benefited from PBS KIDS and PBS educational resources for the classroom and PBS Parents resources for home.
In the slideshow, we hope you see the focused, often joyful children we served and the dedication of interns who worked hard to learn and teach over the summer.
