With help from three awesome interns, WGBY held Odd Squad Camp at the YMCA of Greater Springfield this summer from July 27 – July 30. Children 6-8 years old stepped into the shoes of Odd Squad agents to solve and report a series of odd cases as they engaged in interactive content, games and crafts. Real-world activities enabled the young “agents” to apply specific math skills modeled in Odd Squad, the new PBS KIDS show that garnered 6 daytime Emmy nominations this year.
Odd Squad characters — played by accomplished young actors — challenge young viewers and make them curious. As with all PBS KIDS characters, they motivate young people to learn and have fun at the same time. Odd Squad resources can be found at PBS LearningMedia, where you can browse by many math topics such as Counting and Bundling Numbers, Geometry, and Real -World Math: Maps, Measurement and Time. You’ll also find Odd Squad games, videos and latest episodes on the show’s homepage.
