In the new landmark six-part series, “Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler,” broadcast Tuesdays beginning on WGBY tonight at 8pm and 9pm, viewers take six historic pilgrimages for an in-depth look at some of the world’s major religions. To help teachers bring concepts in comparative religion and geography to life, the new Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler PBS LearningMedia collection features video clips and support material from the series in time for the 12/16 broadcast premiere. Additional resources, including maps featuring the locations of the pilgrimages, will be added to the collection by early 2015.
For the series, Feiler takes an unprecedented journey to the world’s most meaningful landscapes and rigorous religious pilgrimages to sacred sites. Each episode follows a modern-day pilgrim on a private spiritual journey. The series presents a comprehensive picture of the practice of pilgrimage in its varied expressions around the globe, over thousands of years:
